Prof. Rolf Mülhaupt, born 1954 in Waldshut-Tiengen, Germany, studied chemistry at the University of Freiburg, Germany (1973-1978), and got his PhD degree at ETH Zürich in Switzerland (1978-1981). Following his industrial research assignments at DuPont Central Research in Wilmington, Delaware/USA (1981-1985), and Plastics & Additives Research at Ciba-Geigy AG in Marly, Switzerland, he was appointed Full Professor for Macromolecular Chemistry and Director of the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Freiburg. Since 1992 he is Director of the Freiburg Materials Research Center and since 2013 of the new Freiburg Center of Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies.
