EUROPEAN PLASTICISERS: Nigel Sarginson to become new chairman / Matthias Pfeiffer is next vice-chair

European Plasticisers (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticisers.org), a sector group of the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic, Brussels; www.cefic.org), has elected Nigel Sarginson (ExxonMobil) as its next chairman starting 1 May 2020. He will be succeeding Joachim Tremmel (BASF), who served as chairman for seven years. The organisation has also elected Matthias Pfeiffer (BASF) as its new vice-chair, replacing Melanie Bower (ExxonMobil).

Sarginson has worked for ExxonMobil for 37 years and is currently product stewardship and regulatory affairs advisor for ExxonMobils plasticiser business in Brussels. He is a member of the European Plasticisers scientific working group and has been chairman of its advocacy and communications working group for many years. He is also a member of the VinylPlus board.

Pfeiffer obtained a PhD in inorganic chemistry in 1999 and has worked for various companies in the plasticiser industry. Since 2013, he has been responsible for the technical marketing of BASFs European plasticiser portfolio. In March 2020, there will also be a new chairperson, still to be elected, for the advocacy and communications working group.
